The best time to visit Georgia Aquarium is during weekdays, ideally soon after the gates open at 9am. This way, you can explore the galleries, participate in the animal encounters and the aquarium’s experiences, and explore the vast area at your own pace with smaller crowds. 


Friday to Sunday at the aquarium gets crowded, especially during the summer months and holiday seasons. The aquarium is busiest from May to August. Off-season months go on from December to April, excluding the weeks in December for winter holidays.

  • Train: The MARTA train stops are a 15-minute walk from Georgia Aquarium. If you’re taking the Blue/Green line, you can get down at the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station. If you take the Red/Gold line, you can get down at the Civic Center or Peachtree Center Stations.
  • Bus: The MARTA bus goes via Route 32 and stops at Civic Center MARTA bus station and Five Points MARTA station. The aquarium is a 15-minute walk from the stop.

By car
